Marmaris holidays and the Dalyan River

By Leonard Crispin

Marmaris in Turkey is the ideal holiday destination because of its wonderful coastline and months of high temperatures. As well as the beaches and heat, Marmaris is also an extremely tourist friendly place where people can try local cuisine, explore the many landmarks and have a very relaxing time in a place slightly different to the busier resorts elsewhere in Europe. The culture in Marmaris and Turkey is like nowhere else because it is influenced by both Europe and Asia. This means that everywhere people go they are met by beautiful colours, scenery and a relaxed attitude from the people.

One thing which everyone visiting Marmaris should do is take a trip along the River Dalyan. The Dalyan is a very popular thing to do but for good reason. Taking the trip is extremely relaxing and peaceful and a great way to see the scenery of Marmaris and experience the different attractions along the way.

People get to experience a great deal when on a trip up or down the Dalyan as other than the many attractions, there is also a great deal of wildlife. The river is home to many fish, crabs and turtles which tourists often seen during their trip.

Because the Dalyan River trip is so popular, the shore is dotted with a number of restaurants and bars where people can stop off for some refreshments. There is no better way to pass the time than sitting in the sun next to the beautiful river eating lovely food and watching the boats pass by with a magnificent mountainous backdrop.

People travelling up the Dalyan can also take the opportunity to visit the ancient city of Caunos where there are ancient rock tombs and a magnificent ancient amphitheatre. The surrounding views in Caunos are beautiful and people can easily spend a great deal of time there before once again taking a relaxing trip on the river back to their starting point.
