Diwali Greetings: What You Need To Prepare?

By Anukriti Parsai

The bright festival of lights would naturally be absolutely incomplete without the classy Diwali lanterns decorating in the dwelling offices and shops. Diwali greetings always start with the preparations for the Diwali 2011 holiday. The complete process starts many days before the festive season really is set to start.

Naturally buying the right elements for the Diwali celebrations is the most important part of the Diwali decorating process. The significance of Diwali is always embodied in the lights or lanterns. Here's what you will need to complete your Diwali decorations simply and tastefully:

Fixing and cleaning: Diwali comes after the wet season is over and there's still a nip in the air indicating the start of the forthcoming winter. It's the ideal time to start cleaning your place from top to bottom. Clear the spider webs clean the lights and fans, replace old fixings, clean the lampshades and do those tiny fixes in and around the house. A spic and span house is step 1 for preparing the Diwali decorations.

Furnishings: Once you are done with the cleaning it is time to change the cushion covers, replace the curtains with freshly washed or fresh ones and naturally, change the bedsheets. This will give your house a fresh look.

Lights: Diwali night is all about lights. Go and do some shopping for beautiful Diwali lanterns (diyas), candles and lamps and use them both outside and of course inside the house. You may need to use the lights in each and every corner of your place to drive away the darkness. Replace your lampshades with paper lamps and lanterns which will throw engaging patterns on the walls and often add a festive colour to the festive house.

Torans are also essential for Diwali. You can use the door garlands made from freshly cut flowers or the artificial ones (which should last for longer) on your doors as a welcome.

Layout the welcome mat with fascinating Rangoli patterns on your door. You may use powdered creative colours to make the patterns. Alternatively, it's easy to get creative and use flower petals, rice grains maybe a real mix of all those to add an individual touch.

Remember to order fresh-cut flowers for decorations in advance for Diwali preparations. Roses and marigolds are typically used flowers. However sometimes depending on your taste you may need to use orchids, jasmines, china flowers or any other type of flower easily available from your friendly market.

Beautiful floral arrangements will add a fresh and festive touch to every room in the house making for the most up to date Diwali Greetings.
