What Could Be More Christmassy Than A Cottage?

By Simon Trefoils

Do you have the stress of letting everyone round yours for Christmas lunch? What with the grandparents, uncles, aunties and various children frolicking about it's always a worry that you will not have enough space to accommodate them all. Well, there might just be a solution! (And it also involves your house staying completely clean!) The solution is to rent a country cottage for Christmas.

Renting a country cottage is the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit. Of course it would have to be a cottage in England; a true British Christmas! One particular region which offers the most fantastic scenery is Norfolk and it's less than a few hours drive wherever you live in the UK. So on that crisp Christmas day you can either walk around the countryside or along the amazing coastline depending on which area of Norfolk you decide to stay in. So, even if it doesn't snow (everyone looks forward to a white Christmas) you are guaranteed some beautiful views. It's also an ideal opportunity to get everyone out the house so you can get the food ready!

Cottages are equipped with all the necessary kitchen criteria so there's no need to worry about where to prepare the huge Christmas dinner spread; throw in a log fire and a cup of mulled wine and you've got yourself the ideal Christmas. Not forgetting the children of course; going away for the holiday season will mean that it's more of an adventure for them, making it extra special. Just a quick tip though, try choosing a cottage with a big fireplace, we wouldn't want Santa getting stuck would we?

As well as this, renting a cottage would not be overly expensive, especially if you get your various relatives to make an input - it's only fair if you are going be doing the cooking all day. It makes the whole experience feel much more like a holiday if you are actually away from home. Whether it is a couple of days either side of Christmas or a whole week, it's worth it just to be in a country cottage for the winter. It's cosy, picturesque and luxurious; a real Christmas treat.

So gather everyone together, grab the turkey and elope to one of the fabulous self catering cottages in Norfolk. Make your Christmas that little bit more exciting by turning it into a real holiday away and keep your fingers crossed for snow!
