To accomplish that, regular refills need to be done as it also would evaporate. Be sure that the pump is well submersed in it. This will also need changing every month or so, depending on the size of the fountain. This will help prevent growth of algae in the system. This is also an opportune time to clean the surface of the system and also the pump.

You need to look after the maintenance of the pump as well. It is crucial because your pump is the heart in this system. You will first notice build up there so you need to wipe this regularly. The mineral deposits on it can be cleaned with the use of vinegar solution. When you are in an area with hard water, do this two times in a month and once when you are where there is soft water.

The build up of algae needs to be prevented too. There are many ways to do that. One would be considering where to place the system. Algae grows faster under bright light so positioning it under shades would be ideal. Cleaning using commercial algaecide, vinegar or lemon juice also is helpful.

You have to observe proper winter care as well. You need to empty out the system during this cold climate. You also need to remove the pump and then secure it. You can use waterproof covering for the structure too.

Caring for outdoor water fountains is rewarding work. One would have a structure that provides great relaxation and beauty. Work involved is not even that difficult.
