Incredible Tips For Every Friends And Family Annual Vacation

By Rory Chaulklin

Our family was looking for something different when we were planning a winter vacation. We wanted as much outdoor snow fun as possible. That's what drew us to Squaw Valley. Now that we've actually been, we can tell you what a joy the trip had been.

First was the skiing that Tahoe Squaw calls the best in America. Who doesn't love skiing, right? These mountains had some beautiful runs. Including some with really great jumps. There were the more advanced race type courses too.

But there were also the beginner runs. I needed those, and it was cool because they had teachers on site as well. I learned more than I cared to about the technical aspect of skiing. But I'm a much better skier now, I swear!

But the coolest thing is the night skiing. I can't tell you how much fun my family had night skiing. They light up the entire area around you, including the lifts. Then you ski like it's daytime, but it's just beautiful under the night sky.

But after all that skiing, sometimes you're just ready for a break. Lake Tahoe is such a beautiful place, sometimes it's fun to just get out and check out your surroundings. That's why the sky lifts are awesome.

Dog sledding was great. Really interesting to see how people used to do things before the world of snowmobiles. Plus you even get to ride along on some of the sleds, which was awesome.

I also particularly enjoyed the snowmobiles. These were really fun to race around, and give you a beautiful way to explore Lake Tahoe on your own schedule. Squaw Valley and the Squaw Valley CEO have tons of snowmobile tracks out there too.

But the number one family activity you can't pass up is inner tubing. They have great huge snow tube hills that are perfect for riding down. Complete with jumps, these were my favorite part of Squaw Valley by far.
