Torrevieja, Spain, appears to be the destination of choice for people from across the world seeking a terrific holiday. Located in the province of Alicante, Torrevieja is situated upon Spain's Costa Blanca East Coast over looking the Mediterranean Sea. This natural reserve shelters and allows many unique birds to make their home. Some of the birds are the curlew, and flamingo. There are two lagoons called the La Mata and the Torrevieja lagoon. They're connected to the Mediterranean Sea by two created channels that allow the sea water to flow into the shallow basins, where they're warmed by the sun. After evaporation, it leaves behind salt, to the tune of one million tons per year. Spain exports a million tones a year of salt form the various lakes and lagoons in and around Torrevieja for use throughout the world.
