Concussions In Wrestling & Potential Help Of Adventure Race Training

By Rob Sutter

I can't help but notice the number of head-related injuries that seemed to have fallen upon World Wrestling Entertainment recently. The first one that came about in past couple of months was Dolph Ziggler's, which was a difficult pill to swallow considering that he is the World Heavyweight Champion. However, with ballroom wrestler Fandango suffering one of his own, it's clear that this is a problem. What impact would adventure race training have, though, and is it possible that it can lessen the amount of concussion seen?

All kinds of physical professions will have you taking up several types of exercise, so don't think that you'll be fresh out of ideas. Take adventure race training, for instance; do you honestly believe that racing alone is going to be the bulk of what you'll concern yourself with? This isn't the case at all, once you see the kinds of obstacles which seem to be signature of events along the lines of Spartan Race. That being said, how would it possibly help when it comes to decreasing the amount of injuries sustained between the ropes?

For one, it can help hone physical awareness, which is an important part of working in the ring. Not only do you have to protect yourself but you have to make sure that the one you're competing against doesn't become hurt, either. This means that whatever moves you execute shouldn't leave a legitimate impression on people. While wrestling does include a number of physical attacks, keep in mind that none of them should be executed to actually hurt someone; rather, they should be parts of the spectacle.

When it comes to the specific reasons why injuries occur, I think part of that comes from the lack of exercise that is done. Keep in mind that these performers constantly travel from one venue to the next, meaning that the time left to limber up and take care of oneself is minimal. One has to wonder if these tough breaks would occur less if travel wasn't emphasized as much. You will find many people who will agree and it's hard to fault them, too.

For the sake of staying as strong as possible, keep in mind that there are multiple paths which can be taken. I believe that some of them may require more drive and discipline than others, which is the case for adventure race training. You're going to have to work hard if you want to prove yourself in a great way. If you can manage to go about this course of action effectively, though, then I'm sure you'll be able to not only reach your limits but expand them as well.
