Station clocks are clocks at a railway station. To a passenger they are useful as they allow them to see the time. An individual uses this time to determine if they are late or on time. The usefulness of these clocks cannot be undermined. It also allows passengers to have synchrony as they all use the same clock to time their arrivals and departures. This ensures that there is order at a railway station.

At a normal railway station, one will notice the presence of several gadgets placed strategically. This is normally at booking halls, clock towers and offices within the premises. The large nature of the gadgets enhances its visibility making it seem to all passengers and commuters at the station. This increases the efficiency of a railway station as passengers observe them.

Railway stations around the world have the same design of gadgets. This design originated from a Swiss designer Hans Hilifiker. The familiarity of designs around railway stations in Europe and some parts of America has made visits to these places feel at home. The sight of familiar objects puts an individual at ease.

This feel of familiarity does a lot to help foreigners. They have a sense of security and calm. They can easily navigate their way through the stations especially since routines and procedures are similar in these stations. This allows them to keep time.

To enhance visibility especially during the night, these gadgets have an illuminated background. This allows commuters to tell time without the stresses of straining. During the day, the white background on the gadgets further boosts its visibility. The gadgets have a feature that makes them universal; they have Roman numerals as markings. This makes it easy for even foreigners tell the time. Increasing efficiency and reducing confusion.

In addition to these, the use of Roman numerals allows foreigners from different countries to have the ability to read the time. By being in a foreign country, they may not understand the language of the local people. However, by matching the name of a destination at the marked time and reading the clock, they are able to derive departure and arrival times.

Train schedules are usually in minutes. This gives the gadgets in railway stations great purpose. Train schedules are synchronized with these gadgets. They therefore convey accurate information to commuters and passengers. This information is what most commuters use to plan their trips for the day. They work around the schedule to make sure that they are on time to their various daily commitments.

The station clocks are a best friend to a commuter. If a commuter does not utilize these gadgets appropriately, they could run the danger of being delayed by missing crucial trains. By being late, the day of an individual could be derailed making them loose precious time. The collective effect of missing one train could translate onto the missing of several other connecting trains magnifying the effect of lateness. To avoid all this, it is the reason as to why these gadgets have been put up in different stations.
