A Paverpol Sculpture For Indoors Or Outdoors

By Carlene Tibbetts

There is a fairly new product being used by artists worldwide with much success. It was first created in the Netherlands in the 1990s and has gained great popularity over a short time. Creating a Paverpol sculpture is now within the reach of individuals who would not have attempted this in the past. This medium has so many different applications due to its properties such as its quick drying time, ability to turn materials rock hard and the fact that it adheres to so many different materials.

Paverpol fabric hardener has passed the most stringent safety tests and been given the highest seal of safety. It is non-toxic for humans and for the environment. In America attaining this is not that easy as there is a high standard when it comes to safety, particularly safety of children. Children can work with it and clean up easily afterwards with soap and water, making it suitable for educational applications.

One of the main advantages of this product is its versatility. It can be used by all sorts of different artists, from sculptors to doll makers. Forms may be constructed from an endless array of materials such as polystyrene, armature wire and even suitable objects found around the house.

This product is mixed with water into a creme which is manipulated with ease. As it is so user friendly, it is used successfully by both beginners and accomplished artists. A project such as dipping fabric in the product and wrapping it around a wire figurine may be attempted by a beginner to produce a simple but effective piece of art. On the other hand, the most intricate pieces of art are produced by those with experience. All sorts of methods of instruction in this medium are available such as DVDs, online videos and face-to-face classes.

As this product is weatherproof, it is possible to use it for outdoor creations. It is resistant to rain, wind and even frost or snow. In summer months, statues may soften slightly but do re-harden once weather becomes cooler. There are varnishes available which can prevent statues from growing mildew in areas of high humidity.

When it dries, this material is transparent. If you are using a colorful fabric, the colors retain their brightness. If you are using a white fabric, you may want to add one of the color powders available. There are also a number of other products available which can be added to expand how it can be used.

A Paverpol sculpture will create a talking point in any surroundings. It can be used indoors as a point of interest in a room, such as an entrance hall. It can also be placed outdoors in the garden and surrounded by plants for great visual effect.
