Make A Rose Quilt That Your Kids Will Love

By Jane Green

If you ask any person below the age of 30 what words they think of when you say 'rose quilt ' chances are, that you are going to get a lot of replies like 'old ' 'dusty ' and 'uncool '. Expect these to come up quite a lot. While you might think otherwise, it looks like that a large amount of the younger generations don't view these types of quilts the way we do.

So what are we able to do about this?

Well, you could disagree with them until you are both blue in the face, but that is not going to switch anyone's view. No, what you're going to need to do is make a rose quilt that a more youthful person is going to love.

So I have noted down 2 ideas of my own to share with you.

Pixellated Quilt

There are one or two who are no doubt wondering, what is 'pixellated '? Pixellation is the effect that is utilised on the news when a suspect is arrested or taken in for interrogating. Their face is mostly obscured by covering it in multicolored squares.

This is an effect that harks back to the graphics on computers round the late 80's and early 90's. Many younger folk love designs that appear to be pixellated or squared out. Using this on your roses in your pattern will give a design that younger folk are certain to love!

Cartoon Roses

This is a design that's excellent for someone of a much earlier age. Take a look at the styles of the cartoon shows that your nephews and young children watch. Most toons have thick outer lines with a single colour filling in the middle and minimal shading.

If you make a rose quilt following the same design elements, hopefully the effect should be the same, giving you cartoon roses and a quilt that they're going to cherish!

So now you can change somebody's opinion of rose duvets by using some new designs and making a quilt they will love for years ahead.
