The Recycling In York Region Requirements

By Adrianna Noton

In order to start recycling in York Region is easy if you just follow a few simple steps. You will have to separate the recyclables from the garbage and place in your blue box. This process saves on valuable landfill space and reduces the number of trucks sent to Michigan. There are landfills in most every town and some towns have more than one to meet the demand of trash. That means there are approximately one hundred thousand billion landfills worldwide. That is 100,000,000,000,000 and a lot of landfills.

Participating in the program means that you only put in the blue box what is allowed. They accept card board, metal, glass as well as other items. The complete list can be found online and is very easy to understand.

There are some items that are not allowed to be placed in the blue box. The ones that cannot is polystyrene foam, plastic bags or wrap along with others. The online list also includes these items and instructs you how to recycle them as well.

When the garbage people pick your items in the blue box they take them to the appropriate place and then it is gone through either by machine or a person. When this process is finished it is then shipped out to the companies that use it to make products you buy. By doing this it saves the landfills room and saves on the earths resources.

Recycling is doing your part in going green. One ton of recycled aluminum can power a home for two years. And glass bottles left in the landfill will still be there one million years down the road. Just a little can go a long way when it comes to getting garbage into the landfills that will decay instead of just staying there.

There are several stations set up in most towns that will take things that don't go with the garbage people. They take card board, scrap metal, large metal appliances, electronic equipment, box board and other things as well. You can take a little time and make a difference for your children and grandchildren as far as the environment is concerned.

The York Region has blue box collection available in Aurora, New market, Richmond Hill as well as others that can be found online. When the information is used there can be a difference made. There is a lot of good that comes from recycling.

When it comes to going green it is harder than most think. You have to separate items before they go into the trash and put in an appropriate place to send where it needs to go. Once you begin it will become second nature and that will make the environment a better place, not only for you but your children and grandchildren. That alone makes it worth the work and time. Get educated and start waste management Markham today.
