Attributes Of A Good Corporate Photographer

By Randy Phillips

All companies have an inevitable requirement for corporate photography, but finding a good corporate photographer is a rather difficult task. Other types of photography may not require the same skills and techniques that are needed in corporate photography; thus a normal professional photographer may not actually be a good corporate photographer.

Companies that are planning to engage a corporate photographer need to scrutinize the eligible candidates on various parameters to ensure that they meet the needs of the business.

As a corporate photographer may have to deal with various kinds of events such as awards functions, product launch functions etc, he must be versatile and flexible enough to manage different kinds of responsibilities with effortless ease. A preferred corporate photographer should always be ready to execute all these duties with haste and careful attention.

Fast-paced corporate events don't let photographers to comfortably plan different angles or go for retakes, so high vigilance on the part of the photographer is a must. There is always an air of uncertainty in corporate events, so any slackness shown by the photographer will lead to poor coverage that will be unable to capture the event properly. Therefore, a corporate photographer should be fast to react and must always stay vigilant to the circumstances and developments going on at the event.

It is also essential for a corporate photographer to be able to work under constraints and limitations and yet provide good pictures. For example, he may have to work in a packed venue with dim light, particularly when the corporate event is an indoor one. He should be able to give a quality output even in an ambience that makes photography very tough.

Another critical matter that must be considered is the photographer's working style and his attitude towards his job. It is necessary for a corporate photographer to know the priorities of the company and also what the company expects from him. A good photographer must be able to interact well with the employees, so that they don't feel awkward when they are being photographed at corporate events or informal events held in the organization. Moreover, the photographer must have a good nature and must be pleasant to work with.

You must check samples of previous work of the photographer, but do not be prejudiced by his market reputation. It is a good idea to undertake personal interviews of candidates to get a clearer understanding of their personalities and examine their appropriateness for the job.
