Ideas For Religious Tattoos

By Darren Hartley

To tattoo or not to tattoo? That is the question. There appears to be a controversy around religious tattoo ideas. While tattooing is considered in the category of disputable matters as far as the Bible is concerned, there is a warning written in Leviticus 19:28 that caution us not to make our skins with tattoos.

To the defense of motivating religious tattoo ideas, there are activities forbidden by God then that are permitted by Him now. Eating meat not drained of its blood was banned then because of their association with customs associated with pagan rites and rituals. Today, Christians eat non-kosher meat. Cutting the hair on the temples and beards was also a no-no then but now, Christians get regular haircuts strictly for grooming purposes.

Because religious tattoo ideas are classified as matters in dispute, we turn to Roman 14:23 that states, 'everything that does not come from faith is sin.' In this verse, God has given us a means to judge our motives and weigh our decisions. So before getting a tattoo, it is best to examine your heart and motives for doing so.

There is no reason to bring religious tattoo ideas to fruition unless you come clean with your motives for getting the tattoo. If it is self-glorification that you want, then it is a very selfish reason that requires no action. However, if it to proclaim your allegiance to your faith, then getting the tattoo can probably have some good effects not only to you but to your public as well.

To summize, getting a tattoo among the many religious tattoo ideas available is a matter between you and God. If you feel no guilt and you feel you have a clear conscience, go on with it. However, if there is one tiny bit of doubt in your mind, then it probably is better not get the tattoo or at least postpone the event until such time the doubt is fully erased.
