By Dirk Gruenberg

It is not easy to find a good breeder. And it is even harder when it is the first time you try to find one. Maybe you feel a little bit lost not knowing what to look for and not knowing what criteria make a top quality breeder.

Read this little article if you are looking for some guidance. You will get a real good idea of what makes a good breeder even if you do not have any experience at all.

The no 1 reason why it is so difficult to find a good breeder is this: They do not do a lot of advertizing. They usually have a long waiting list of potential dog who are waiting for a puppy to be born. In other words: Their business is based on existing customers' referrals.

Additionally, a good breeder knows the power of focus: He most likely will concentrate on one or two breeds. What you do not want is a breeder who offers all kind of breeds.

One of the criteria to look for is how many puppies are available. Don't be surprised if you do not find a lot of them. This can be a sign that quality comes first for him.

Additionally, great breeders sell their puppies at the appropriate time. This is between the ninth and the eleventh week of their young lives. Any breeder who wants to get rid of his puppies earlier than that is not recommended.

Furthermore, you great breeder will answer all of your questions willingly and sensibly. If you encounter a breeder, who does not do so, do not buy a puppy for him.

Good breeders are proud of their work, as they should be, and they will be happy to answer your questions and explain things to you.

What he will also do is he will show you around. So you can get an impression of the environment where your new dog grew up. Do not hesitate to ask any question you may have.
