You can use a wand to throw and guide energy to a certain object, dimension, area, or to a person. You can also make use of wands for tasks such as stirring a cauldron if the composition of it allows this particular task. In a number of traditions, wands can be used to call God as well as the Goddess to enter a ritual. It is very common to find wands that are constructed using woods but there are also other materials used for making wands.

The early Druids considered woods as a sacred living thing and that tools that were made from wood were believed to be carrying the spirit of nature. They particularly opposed using wood to be crafted into a wand that was cut down from a living tree. They are more specific on the use of a fallen wood and produce a wand from it, they believed that this is more appropriate for this can be judged as a gift that will come from divinity. Several Wiccans do believe that wands must span from the user's forearm and hand, but most of the time, wands usually range from 10 inches to as long as 3 feet. Several individuals prefer a much bigger wand that they can hold for the feeling of more power can be achieve from it.

A lightweight but condensed wand is also suggested for everyone to use. The unadorned wand is usually used but you can also opt for the stylish ones, this is all depending on your preference. There are different types of wands that are available in the market today for you to choose from, you can have a wand that is made of sterling silver that is also adorned with gems and different kind of stones, or you can also desire for the more basic and simple looking wands that was made out of a tree branch where you can still sometimes see its bark covering it. Every piece of wand can be of valuable service as long as the individual handling it feels comfortable using it.

The boline is another useful object that you can use. Boline is a type of knife with a white handle to make it easier for you recognize it from the black handled knife known as athame. In lots of situation, the blade of the boline knife has its own individual curbed shape. This is considered to be simple knife that one can utilize in his or her ritual or for the preparation that you need to do for it like cutting cords, engraving or cutting candles, or for cutting out herbs, and so on.
