Buying A Hookah Might is Not as Easy as it Seems

By John McCree

It might appear that choosing a hookah is very simple but it is not. You, the consumer, may have certain uses, which would affect the characteristics of the hookah you ultimately purchase. Listed below are some questions you may want to ask yourself:

1. How frequently do I wish to use the hookah?

2. Will I move it or not?

3. Does the size matter?

4. When not using will I keep it as a decoration or not?

5. Will it be used by a single person in a smoking session?

6. How long would I like my smoking sessions to last?

7. Do I have a specific theme or character I'd like my hookah to suit?

Believe it or not, all these questions could inform your hookah buying decision.

Where to Shop for Your Hookah

If you want to purchase a hookah then you can visit a store or you can get one online. At a brick and mortar shop, you get the advantage of checking a number of different hookahs physically and taking advice from the seller.

In case you are a more knowledgeable hookah smoker, or are fine with not being able to physically check products before purchasing, you may want to purchase a hookah on the internet.

Types of Hookahs

There are different types of hookahs and each type is suited to specific taste and purposes. A few of these types are:

1. Egyptian Hookah - The most common type of hookahs made from steel or brass. It is not very expensive.

2. Syrian Hookah - Less common than Egyptian hookahs and thus a bit pricier, characterized by a hoseport, which has more of an upward angle.

3. Crystal Hookah - The style of crystal hookah separates it from other kinds of hookahs. These are towards the high budget side and could be used as a piece of decoration in the house.

4. Rotating Hookah - These hookahs are usually made of stainless steel and characterized by a rotating base at the bottom, which allows the whole hookah to rotate 360 degrees for convenient hose passing. The rotating function adds small cost.

5. Mini Hookah - Generally inexpensive, these hookahs are great for people who travel a lot and like to smoke.

6. Specialty Hookah - Specialty hookahs are great for those who are interested to buy a hookah to suit their unique personality. The price tag on specialty hookah can vary from cheap to too expensive. It all depends on what you need.

Making Sure You Pick Right

It's not a bad idea to test out a variety of hookahs before you make your own purchase. At the end of the day, while all hookahs basically have identical parts and produce a similar result, you may find that certain characteristics create a better smoking experience for you. For example, larger hookahs (x inches plus) normally require more suction in order to smoke. Some smokers find this too much effort, and would prefer to smoke a smaller hookah. If you buy a hookah with a larger bowl, your smoking sessions would last longer as it can contain more shisha.

If you have the luxury of having hookah bars in close proximity to your home, you can get practice by trying many different hookahs before buying yours. You will use the hookah regularly for a long period, so make sure that you make a good purchase.
