Shall we continue talking about Greek Holiday Destinations? If you are planning any vacations for the winter, you will probably be a fan of snow. Greece is a country surrounded by water, but it has a very mountainous mainland. As a result, there are small villages that have ski centers nearby, and welcome thousands of visitors during wintertime. Here are two of them: Kalavryta: It is one of the most known holiday destinations visited during winter. It has a ski center which even offers night skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling and paragliding. Open from December to April, It has courses both for the beginners and the experts. Apart from skiing, you can visit some of the regions' best sites, such as the Cave of the Lakes, beautifull small villages and historic monasteries.
Kaimaktsalan: This area is widely known for its' ski center too. At an altitude of 2500 meters, it is the place where most professional skiers like to train. It has 14 tracks that include easy, medium and hard courses. If you are a novice, there are schools that can help you get started with the basics. Kaimaktsalan is also preferred by trekking and mountaineering clubs because of the amazing scenery and the variety of trekking paths.
If you are a traveler who enjoys sightseeing above all, here are two Greek historical destinations that not many people know about: Mystras: When the Byzantine Empire was broken into pieces for the first time in 1204 A.C., Peloponnese was given to a Frankish Prince, William II, who built the castle of Mystras. The security provided by the natural hill fortress of Mystras, will cause the migration of the local population to it, creating a spectacular city-castle.
So just where can you find the best olive oil? Well, all over! It isn't a universal recipe and each region, country and even continent has its own taste and formula. Greek olive oil is often considered to have an almost 'herb' flavour or tang to it whilst Turkish varieties range from delicate and grassy to full flavoured and unfiltered.
Paros: An island famous for its marble. It has excellent tourist facilities, sandy beaches and classic Greek-style white houses. If you like wind surfing, you can go to the southeastern side of the island, on Golden beach and watch the Professional Windsurfing World Cup. So, have you made up your mind yet?
