Fixing The Rail Joiner On The Tracks

By Kenya Campos

In the current world, people are increasingly using tracks. One has the option to buy an already built track or build one from scratch. In case you buy an already assembled track, getting a Rail Joiner is inevitable which helps in bringing two parts of the track together. This means therefore that it is important to factor in the cost of these tools when thinking of putting up a track.

The process of fixing these items is quite easy and straight forward. To start with, you need to check whether the two sections of the rail can slip together. Ensure that, when you are joining the two sections, you leave a space of about 3.175mm. You should then proceed to twisting the lock tabs below the snug fit. You should then ensure that you strongly tighten the grip using stainless screws.

Majority of people prefer using the N scale track Atlas. It requires you to have your tools for you to join it. Its function is to wrap metal below or the bottom of the tracks. The joint is made in such a way that, it can hold different parts together. This helps in ensuring that the whole system is rigid by holding the both parts together. Furthermore, it is also used extensively to distribute engine power to all areas.

It is hard to use them. The main point that makes them hard when using is that they are designed using soft metals. However, they give a tight fit. You will not need to push harder to place them in the right position. When installing them, you have to be careful not to bend and squeeze them when trying to fix. In case they bend, it becomes a hard task to bend them back.

Needle nose pliers are recommended tools to use when dealing with the joiners in order to minimize on their wastage that normally results from poor handling. The installation process is made easier by using the pliers but in case you experience any difficulty, you should twist a little to ensure they are well joined. The twisting should however not be overdone as this could destroy them rendering them useless.

You need to know that, it is not possible to use it again since it have already developed bends in the process of pushing it around. You will realize that, when you try to pull it back, it will not get back to its original position. Yes, it can slide comfortably to a new track, but it will not guarantee the strength required. This will in turn undermine the power of the engine. This may in turn read to interruptions.

Since the strength of the track is very important, it would be wise to reinforce them by driving in screws which will fit them tightly into the tracks. The screws should be put into a position during the laying of the tracks since doing so afterwards might prove to be very difficult.

Lastly, ensure that you fix two screws in each joiner. You need to make sure you fix them about halfway on both ends. This is important for you to get a better alignment and stronger well laid tracks. For you to prevent water from destroying the tracks, greasing is always recommended.
