Cheap Barbados Holidays

By Jose Maurette Garces

Barbados as Caribbean holidays go; it is pure relaxation, with some of the finest hotels in the Caribbean. The sophisticated west coast has superb hotels, beaches and excellent restaurants whilst the livelier popular south coast is known for the fantastic bars and nightlife of St Lawrence Gap.

Best Beaches in Barbados: With over 70 square miles of beaches to choose from on the beautiful island of Barbados, travellers will have no problem finding the right coastal terrain for their tropical getaway. Beaches abound on this gorgeous vacation destination! The east and north coasts of Barbados face the Atlantic Ocean and because of sea currents and waves are so strong, this area is not recommended for swimming. But the south coast it is just ideal.

Things to do: Much more than just the sun, sea and sand usually associated with a Caribbean island, Barbados has an incredible range of holiday activities for almost every interest and taste. In fact Barbados boasts of more attractions per square mile than any other Caribbean island!

Best Hotels in Barbados: Beach View in Saint James, Little Arches Hotel in Christ Church, Sugar Cane Club Hotel & Spa in Saint Peter, Southern Surf Beach Apartments in Christ Church.

Getting around: Barbados doesn't have any car-rental agents affiliated with major international rental chains. There are, instead, scores of independent car-rental companies, some so small that they are based out of private homes. So hiring a car might prove difficult. Good news is it's possible to get to virtually any place on the island by public bus.

Weather: Year round Barbados has days and days of glorious weather. Bridgetown is reliably hot with almost no variation in temperature. It hovers just below 30C in the peak of the day and sidles down to the mid 20s at night. Seasons are defined by rainfall and humidity. The dry season, from December till May, can still see some rain but is, for the most part, dry and sunny. Rain falls in short storms that quickly give way to clear skies. The average high temperature stays around 28C which is kept bearable by relatively low humidity.
