Six - Game Halloween Costumes: Classic And Stylish Adult Halloween Costumes

By Nicholas Thomas

For a fast and easy costume as Halloween approaches consider Game costumes. These are easy to put together and though they've been done many times there are always more old classics and new trends to use. In fact, you can use a new game each year. If ease of construction and inexpensive projects are your goals, this is the costume for you.

You simply wear the game. How easy is that? Choose a favorite game from childhood such as Candyland or Monopoly, a thinking game such as Ouija or an action game like Twister. No matter what type you choose, you will be easy to recognize.

For games that include smaller pieces and game boards, you could attach these to clothing. Add holes to the top of the game board and loop it around your neck so it dangles in front of you. Sew the smaller game pieces into the sleeves of a sweat shirt. Monopoly might be a good one for this. Sew or glue the monopoly money along each arm so that it rests along the appropriate sides of the board when you hold your arms down at your sides, just like in actual game play!

Games like Twister have layouts that are pliable and easy to use as game Halloween costumes. With strategic cuts you can turn the Twister layout into a tunic or skirt or can choose to become the ghost of Twister. Combine this with tights that match a color of one (or more) of the dots on the layout and you're ready to go trick or treating. Though you could use several layouts to cut and sew a piece of clothing the vinyl is likely to split or tear. Using simple cutouts is best.

All of the game Halloween costumes require destruction of the game itself so you might want to browse yard sales and thrift shops for cheap used games. After all, you don't care if there is a piece or two missing - you aren't going to play the game, you're going to wear it! Ebay and Craig's List are other good sources for cheap used games but remember to check shipping charges to make sure the total cost is low.

Video game outfits have become a popular Halloween staple as well. With the popularity of video gaming on the rise, many people will recreate their favorite game character. Whether your aiming for Halo's Master Chief or the Monkeys from Monkey Ball, your costume can be unique. Love playing the Sims? Why not create a real life Sim! It sounds boring, but if you do it right, it can be fun and unique. Find out how many people recognize the origins of your costume. Add a head piece that displays the talky bubbles or other icons from the game.

Those of the older generation may not recognize any of your video game characters but a young crowd will know what you are doing. Thus, your choice of using a traditional action or board game or an internet wonder series may depend on who will be at the party you attend.

Whether going for classic games that we all remember or hacking into video and animation for your creative game Halloween costumes, keep cost in mind. Buy used games to build your costume rather than destroying usable versions you may own. Browse thrift stores and resale shops to find basic clothing you can add to in creating video characters. Pound the pavement as a trick or treater, be Super Mario or Monopoly Man, speak as your character would and have a great time with it. Edited by Svetchey Sanorols
