The Invention Of The Teddy Bear

Teddy bears are soft stuffed toys that are designed to appear like a bear. They're well-liked gifts to show tenderness are collected by teddy bear enthusiasts and are also much loved by youngsters all around the world.

Who invented the teddy bear? The story behind the invention of the teddy bear is kind of interesting. The idea for making this stuffed toy came from a famous moment in the life of President Theodore Roosevelt who was known by the name Teddy.

In 1902 some of the presidents attendants hunted a black bear with hounds. After the events of this hunt became known there was a political cartoon of this hunting trip printed in the Washington Post.

A candy sales rep and stuffed toy maker named Morris Michtom saw the cartoon in the paper and along with his wife Rose was inspired to create the first teddy bear. After sending a sample to President Roosevelt and gaining his approval to use his name he started selling the bear in his store. He publicized the bear in his shop window with a sign Teddys bear. The toy bear was a fast success.

Who can resist a cute and cuddly toy bear? Irrespective of what your age a teddy bear can soften your heart. I continue to have some teddy bears from when I was young. They bring up happy recollections and happy times.

Teddy Bears will not go out of style and the softer and cuddlier the better. Folk still decorate their homes with teddy bears. You can show them on the bed rather than throw pillows or on racks or on the dresser. They can make a home a soft place to land at the end of an appalling day.

Whether you are a collector, make teddy bears to give or sell or donate them to charities they stay a toy that may give comfort to those who are experiencing discomfort and bring joy to people who have received a gift of a special bear. They will continue to be a well-liked toy and gift.
