Ideas For Handmade Jewelry Designs

By Robert Trivett

Creating and coming up with ideas are both parts of handmade jewelry designs. You wouldn't want to put out the same stuff you see almost everywhere, would you? That's not what sells. Items that grab attention are what sells.

They're so unique that people can't just walk away from them. Beautiful earrings, anklets, bracelets, and necklaces are put together by many jewelry makers. Any ideas on how to make your designs be noticed?

To create jewelry that stands out, give it a theme like jewelry relating to seashore or sunrises, etc. Offering one of the best smorgasbords for ideas is nature.

Step outside your home and have a look around. You can notice flowers, trees, the leaves curling up, etc. The bird effortlessly hovering in the sky is also something you'll notice. They can be your inspiration in making jewelry.

When you base your designs on flowers, add silver hearts to the center of the rose you've designed. Or you can put a tiny gold bee at the center of the magnolia necklace you've created.

It wouldn't hurt to learn to add the whimsical, unexpected, and the mystique to your jewelry. Looking through jewelry websites, you'll find different colored pieces and different beads, but their design is the same.

When creating jewelry, use the snowflake approach as in no two pieces are the same and that could be your selling point. Have you ever thought about why 2 women hate showing up in an event wearing the exact same thing? That's because we all have to be an original and no one wants to be a copycat.

Originals need to be made. Make jewelry that no one else has thought of yet. Create jewelry with a story or with a purpose behind them. You can use gemstones that have meaning and materials that bring luck, healing, confidence, and use them to promote your work.

Making sure that the designs of your handmade jewelry feed the need for more is what you need to make certain of. Create designs that tie in with more of your designs. For example, build on designs and words-use symbols that stand for something else - like truth, justice, freedom, loyalty, love, friendship etc.

You can target specific groups with specific jewelry this way too and you want to try and find a niche so that you can specialize. Whatever designs you create, make sure they're timeless because if you create jewelry based on fads, once that fad passes, your jewelry won't be in demand any more and you want to keep people as lifelong customers.
