Lots of people at some point in their life wonder what a new life abroad in a sunny climate would be like. Traditionally, most expats concentrated on the Algarve when buying Portuguese property and overlooked cheaper property in the proximity of Central Portugal, but this is no longer the case.

Portugal is on the border of Spain in South Western Europe. It is a small country, comparative to Scotland with a population of around 10 million. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and Spain. The Azores and Madeira are part of Portugal too.

Portugal is one of the warmest countries there is in Europe. There is plenty of sunshine to relish, even in the winter months you can have between 4 to 6 hours daily.

The Portuguese provide a friendly welcome and will greet you everywhere you go. Whilst the language can take a bit of time to learn you can soon pick up the basics.

You will find a a great choice of property on sale in Central Portugal to suit your taste and budget. Don't just dive in though. Explore which amenities are necessary for you to be close to, i.e. Shopping facilities, Restaurants, and public transport.

Don't forget to investigate the travelling time to the nearest airport and beach. A great deal of property can be reached from Porto or Lisbon Airport in under 2 hours.

Take care not to rush into a big project before examining the pro's and cons. It may cost little or no more to buy a completed property and you could save yourself the time

You will not be disappointed as there is something for everyone in Central Portugal with property to suit all taste and budget. Reduce your choice of area with a list and research thoroughly. It is a sound idea to rent locally first.
