Best Drinking Card Games For Two Or More Players

By Frank Sturling

In any group of people socializing together there will always be some more extrovert than others, meaning that for the quieter members of the group it may take longer to come out of their shell. Drinking card games are a fabulous way of bringing everyone together, loud or shy, all playing to one set of rules, and before you know it those who previously hung back a little, are suddenly free of their inhibitions and putting their noisier friends in the shade.

There are so many of these card drinking games, each with their own merits and probably each with a certain time of the evening to be played, with some designed to just "loosen up", whilst others are more hard core.

Drown The Clown

To get the party started, then try out this simple yet thrilling card drinking game. Any number of players need to gather around in a circle. A dealer hands each player a single card face down. When everyone is ready, they reveal their cards. From there, individuals with matching cards (by number or face card) each take a shot. Mulligan rounds simply result in new cards being dealt to each person. This continues until the group decides it's time to move onto the next game!

This is a real gamblers game as you may want to suggest a really disgusting combination for one of your friends to attempt to drink, but then just happen to draw the card that means that it is you that actually has to drink it!

The dealer will give a card to himself as well as the other player, and the player (not the dealer) will have to drink the difference of the two cards. So, if the dealer's card was a five and the player's card was a ten, then the player would have to drink five drinks. If both the player and the dealer receive the same card, both need to take a drink.

It basically is a game of guessing and begins with the other player dealing 5 cards in an "L" shape, with the corner card face down and the other 4 face up.

The aim is to simply guess whether the next card turned over on to the top of the "L"will be red or black, if correct they move on to the next card, if not they are forced to take a stipulated drink.

Grab a deck of cards and place it in the center of the players. In succession, players will draw a card, and they must drink the associated number of shots. Face cards and Aces allow a player to pass on drinking, though. Aces are special in that a player can tell others to take a drink. After a few rounds, players should change the rules to each card and personalize the game. Hilarity and tons of drinking will surely ensue.

Card drinking games for 2 can be as friendly as you like, due to the obvious fact that you can alter the rules slightly to suit the level of desired drunkenness, but because of that these can often become extremely messy, as both players become really competitive and probably push themselves beyond their normal limits.

So, the next time you're stuck in a rut because your party is boring, try some drinking card games for two or even for a larger group, to liven it up in a snap.
