Steps In Making Leather Knife Roll Made Simple

By Daniel Wilson

Chefs do love using knives. Moreover, they bring these tools with them wherever they go. They have become one of the important tools in preparing food.

To deliver them in a safest and most discreet manner, chefs usually keep them in a bag which houses a bunch of these sharp objects. It is known as a leather knife roll. You can buy them from retail stores or find them online. Its structure may look complicated but actually an easy thing to make. The following paragraphs will enumerate the steps on how it was done.

Preparation and arrangement of kitchen knives. In a kraft paper, have the knives arranged. It is up to you how you will arrange it. For pocket to be formed there must be an extra portion of a leather in the area where the tools will basically be seated. Have the length and width be measured. Do not forget to come up with a layout. In that way, you will be able to know the size the bag will be.

Canvassing and searching for leather. You may opt to go online or window shopping in stores. Wherever you will inquire, always bring a picture or a sketch of your desired layout. Explain to the sellers what project you are gonna be making. This will help them provide one suitable to your project needs. It is important for you to note that its size should range more or less four hundred percent.

Bring the important tools and equipment for making this leather bag to the table. Some of you might use those that are different from the sources you read on the web or video tutorial that you watched. The important things must be present. These are the sewing needles and glue.

Create a working copy for the design in paper. Using a kraft paper, create a copy of a coarse whip of a braid or better known as cowhide. A piece of kraft paper is laid out. It has to be larger than the cowhide which will be placed on top. With a marker, an outline is traced and cut out according to its shape.

Finalize its layout or design. Before that, makes some adjustments on it using the mockup copy. You can also arrange the knives to see if they are good enough.

Once the design has been finalized, apply it to the leather. Place the unfolded paper on a cowhide. Cut every part of it. Using glue, attach the straps and other related parts. Assemble them until the step is finished. Place the knives in their respective places to see if it is done right. Repeat it for few days so that the leather will be stretched.

Final sewing and gluing. This is the final step. This is very important for this will keep the finished product more durable and more secured. In doing so, see to it the sharpies are seated properly and their spaces are just right for them. Do not do this step if you changed your mind on arrangements or design. Any type of glue is acceptable. However, using leather glue will produce even better results.
