Staying at Home with the Kids this Summer

By Steve Alexander

Rather than heading off to sunnier climes this summer, why not stay at home. With so many fun activities to do, the kids are sure to love summer holidays in the UK.

For busy parents looking for a relaxing way to spend time with the kids, or for children whose birthdays fall outside of term-time, a gift experience makes the perfect present. Surely the best gift you can receive is the chance to learn new skills, see different parts of the country, or experience an adrenaline high you'll never forget.

Why not consider experience days if you're tearing your hair out trying to think of suitable gifts for a family member or you want to arrange a special experience to enjoy with your own spouse and children. The whole family will be able to all take part together in a number of activities. A day of laughs is sure to be had with some family go-karting, while the kids will pick up some useful skills too.

For children who hanker after thrills, indoor skydiving is a great idea. It offers all the excitement of the real thing, but with no waiting around and without the potential let-down of being unable to jump if the weather is bad. The experience itself is so authentic that it's used as a training method by many professional skydiving teams.

You'll be introduced to the the safety procedures in place in the wind tunnel, and the hand signals that enable you to communicate with your instructor before the indoor flight begins. Prepare to get airborne after been issued with a helmet, goggles, ear plugs and flight suit.

Each flight lasts one minute, which may sound like a short time, but is the equivalent of about 10,000 feet of freefall. It's a truly exhilarating experience, and is suitable for children as young as four.
