By Kevin Harden

If you're looking to get fit, it's not vital that you spend hours at the gym. Here are some tips that will help you get in shape wherever you are or wherever your workouts occur.

Lifting weights is one way that people try to become fit. However, all that's really needed to keep your body in shape are six types of exercises. These are pull ups, push ups, handstand push ups, squats, leg raises, and bridges.

To build the strength in your legs with an easy exercise, try doing wall sits. When doing wall sits, make sure you have an empty wall, with nothing too close to your body. Eighteen inches is a good distance away from the wall. You need to lean back and bend your knees against the wall. Keeping this position, slowly move your body down the wall until you are mimicking a sitting position. You should not, however, actually be resting on the ground. Stay here as long as your legs will let you.

If you want to strengthen your forearms, consider this excellent suggestion from racquetball and tennis players. Cover a table or smooth surface with a sizable sheet of newsprint. Crumple the whole piece of paper in your writing hand for at least 30 seconds. You should do this twice before switching hands, doing it once with the non-dominant hand, and then switching back to the dominant hand two more times.

Exercising with a pet can benefit both of you. Pets require plenty of exercise as well. According to scientific data, there are quite a bit of overweight pets. In fact, 35% of pets have weight issues. Therefore, exercising with your pet can help you both get in shape. Just walking around the neighborhood would be an enjoying outing for you both.

Use your age to determine how long your stretches should be. People under 40 years old should hold each of their stretches for 30 seconds. If you're over forty, your stretch should be held for a minute. Holding stretches for the proper amount of time will help to reduce the risk of injury.

Working out by benching weights or using dumbbells is a great method to get more fit. You need to have the correct kind of bench for this. Remember, if you feel that your back is hitting wood, try considering looking for another type of bench. These benches can harm your spine.

Taking the kids outside for some fun in the sun can be a great opportunity for a workout. Run around the park with your kids or challenge them to a bike race. Being active will help both you and your children.

Improving your fitness and health can be a challenge but can also be something to which you look forward to and enjoy. Implement our tips for success and your fitness routine will soon be on track. Look at fitness as a day to day activity. When you engage in a moderate amount of exercise on a regular basis, you will see tremendous gains in health and wellness.
