Grow Marijuana With Hydroponics

By Castulo Zane

You can produce cannabis plenty of ways- hydroponically, aeroponically or in garden soil. You will find positives and negatives to each method. Hydroponics is surely an concept that may occur to most new growers relatively quickly in the procedure since it's really widespread.

Hydroponic marijuana cultivation functions by supporting the plant in some type of medium and then water is poured over the root system. The water is manipulated to include a particular mix of chemicals. PH can also be managed, as is oxygen content.

Hydroponics needs something to support the plant for it to work. We call this thing the medium, or growing medium. Hydroton is the best answer. It is a special product that lets water drain through it easily. It's easy to find in stores and online.

Next you require something to hold the medium. A pot or container will work, but it needs to allow the water to flow through freely while being diffused. Normal pots won't work - they'll jut overflow. You can buy special pots or fill regular pots with holes.

Next, you need something to hold the plant, hydroton and pot combination. This is a container that must be water tight, and that will allow you to add small plumbing fixtures to it. There are many custom containers made of plastic that hold multiple plants, or you can use a single plant container, like a 5 gallon plastic bucket. The top of the bucket has a hole that the pot sits in and the bottom has a hole for a plumbing fitting to return the solution.

You also need a container to hold the solution. Think of this as a reservoir. It will have a pump in it that will circulate the solution through the top of the system, over the plant, through the pot and hydroton, into the container holding that combo, and then back to the reservoir. Bigger systems need bigger reservoirs - smaller systems can use smaller ones.

You close the system by connecting the reservoir to the plant pot through a pump and small hose. The solution then drains through the plant, into the plant holding bucket/reservoir, and then back to the reservoir through a plumbing fitting and bigger hose. The system is power by a small pump and gravity. As long as there are no blockages it works great.

Altogether you need the containers, hydroton, hose, plumbing fixtures and a pump. You also need electricity to power the pump. Put them together in a place where a leak won't ruin everything - basements or outside work well. Build it well enough to function on its own without plugging up or breaking down or leaking.

None of this is to difficult. It's all been done before, and there is a lot of room for creativity. It can be used both inside and outside, on a small scale or a big scale.

The drawback is that it takes some thought, some monitoring and more initial input that plain dirt farming. However, the results are generally outstanding. Additionally, since a lot of the inputs are controlled it's easier to avoid some of the dirt related problems that can hurt the grower.

All in all hydroponics is one of the best ways to grow marijuana. This is proven by experience, and by the sheer number of commercial growers who make use of the technique. Everything you require to make it work is easily available for purchase, and completely legal.
