Would Sony Ips Find Themselves Thriving In Adventure Racing Competition?

By Rob Sutter

I'm sure that when you go up to any casual gamer and talk about the many characters seen in games, ones associated with Nintendo are probably the ones which come up with the most. It's not like it's a shock, either, seeing as how these particular identities have the most name value. While I don't see that fact changing anytime soon, I will concede that the ones headed by Sony have a number of qualities of their own. Which ones, though, would be best suited for the task of adventure racing competition?

Sony has a cast of personalities which are some of the most entertaining that I've come across. It feels like all I have ever see, at each turn, are those which look like something out of Saturday morning cartoons. I like variety as much as the next person, though, so I can appreciate Sony's focus on featuring characters that look just like you and me. Having human characters only helps to give them more realistic identities, thereby able to appeal to a greater subsection of gamers.

When it comes to characters who are as rooted in realism as one could imagine, Nathan Drake from "Uncharted" and Cole MacGrath from "inFamous" are two which deserve to be mentioned. While Drake is a treasure hunter and MacGrath is a hero - or villain, if you prefer - of Empire City, it seems like they have their own qualities to talk about. Both of them can be stubborn at times, which ultimately allows them to be more flawed. Sometimes imperfections in characters can do a lot for such IPs.

I think that adventure racing competition can suit these characters as a result. Keep in mind that these characters are able to move fast, such as how MacGrath has been able to throughout the "inFamous" series. In addition, he is seemingly unafraid of taking risks that may have been beyond his physical limitations. Physical ability are two qualities which are worth talking about and I think that they can come into play nicely when you're talking about events such as Spartan Race as well.

Nintendo personalities are some of the most noteworthy but does that mean that there isn't room for others to make their presences known? To me, I think that they have all of the potential in the world to become greater since their personalities are so strong. However, they are strong in the humanistic sense since people are aware that they are flawed and they can make mistakes every now and then. The rise and fall is a tremendous story and it's one that should be showcased more often.
