Toy Nerf Guns: Fun For Everyone

By Harry Guermo

The fun that can be had by infusing Nerf guns with every day games should never be underestimated. In many households these colorful toys are full of possibility. They often come as gifts and get fired off for a few days before they are lost forever at the bottom of the toy chest. However, people can use them to add new dimensions to old games.

Kids have tons of imagination, they are just required to use so little of it, given the types of activities often marketed for them. Nerf toy guns are great alternatives to house spent in front of the television or the game system. They make perfect entertainment for days when the weather is less than stellar.

When you want your kids to stay active a great game to reinvent is the game of War. Have the kids divide themselves into two teams. One times hides and the other team counts to thirty to give everyone a chance to get in place.

When thirty is reached the second team must begin to hunt out member of the first. Great additions to this game, especially when Nerf guns are in neon colors is to use a black light, total darkness or flashlights. Kids will have fun for hours on end.

Birthday celebrations for teenagers and pre-teens can be made super fun by playing in the yard at twilight or at night. With flashlights, or by stringing Christmas lights kids can have enough illumination to play safely. This by far less expensive option than laser tag or paintball parties, and as far as paint ball goes, it hurts a lot less too.

By adding some easy props kids can transform the games that they have always played into more realistic and engrossing scenes. Playing with Nerf guns means adding flair to games that may have been played so many times in the original fashion as to begin to seem mundane. The make for excellent rainy day activity, when parents do not feel like stifling the natural energy of children by having them set quietly in front of reruns.
