Christian Youth Group Activities That Interest Young People Today

By Tyler Vincennes

There are plenty of unhealthy things for teenagers to get into these days. Parents turn to their churches to try to find some Christian youth group activities that will be healthy for their child, keep them safe and make them feel encouraged and happy. There are a lot of things that can be offered by the church to keep the young people entertained and out of trouble.

However, there are also plenty of entertaining events that can be planned that keep young people of the faith together in a safe and happy environment. Every human shares a love of music. It is one of the things that young people today use as motivation, entertainment, encouragement and an outlet for creativity.

Having a music night for young people is a great idea. They can bring along instruments of their own and have a camp out, roasting marshmallows and singing songs. This is something that churches have been doing with their young people for many years and should still be used as healthy entertainment today.

Teenagers and little children enjoy movies as much as adults. The kind of movies that are shown on movie night should be clean and positive but not preachy and dull. Some communities will have movie nights in the park, where people can bring blankets and picnic baskets and sit under the stars, enjoying nature, a good movie and good company.

Many young people like to sing and the ones who do not have fun listening to their friends-or teasing them. Karaoke has made a big splash, and is a wonderful creative outlet. Cookouts, impromptu plays, dance-offs, improvisation sessions and fashion shows are other events that young people enjoy doing together.

If the group has any writers, a poetry or reading night is also enjoyable to many. Churches help families come up with Christian youth group activities that will keep their children from wandering the streets and getting into trouble with young people who do not care about God or the faith or being good.
