Taking Good Care Of Black Bamboo Plants In Pots

By Anna Butler

A room that has been decorated with bamboo plants grown in ports seems beautiful. There are many colors of containers and the choice is dependent on the likes of owner. When in garden, the chances of it spreading as a weed are minimized because the pot prevents this bad act. Having Black Bamboo Plants in pots is better than growing it on ground because it can be moved from one place to another. This is nice in that it can help in making a venue a bit beautiful when used for decoration purposes.

It is true that almost all species of bamboo can do well when grown in pots. However some species may require more care and attention than others. It important to know the amount of time available to provide efficient care for the species you intend to grow. Some species also grow more vigorously than others. This indicates that some pots become more root bound quicker than others depending on type of species present.

Sunlight really affects their rate of growth. Different types have different requirements of sunlight. If you intend to keep them within the room, choose that does not require a lot of sunlight. Choose the smaller ones if the space within the room is limited. Never choose tall ones if you intend to place them within the room.

Running bamboos grows rapidly and becomes very tall after a short time. The roots grow too at a fast rate a condition that may make them occupy almost the entire space within the vessel. This reduces the nutrients available to it, undermining its healthy condition. On the other hand, clumping types grow slowly and may take relatively longer period of time for the container to become root bound.

When the container is bound by the roots, it is important to consider doing repotting. This helps in that it looks as healthy as before. This can be carried out within a short duration of time and at any month of the year. On the other hand, dividing can also help the plant from drying. This is a bit delicate and is usually done during the spring or during the winter.

On the other hand, repotting can be done during any part of the year without worrying the season. In any of the process one is advised not to interfere with the root balls as it may cause the plant to dry. Usually bamboos in containers do not get the usual insulation by the soil hence are therefore greatly affected by extreme temperature changes. During cold seasons, it is advisable to wrap the container with an insulation material such as burlap or moving it indoor.

During summer there is much evaporation of water. At the same time the rate of transpiration is usually very high. In mind that there is less insulation of the potted one due to less soil compared to that on the garden, it has very high chances of drying, to prevent this, provide it with as much water as possible. Under extreme conditions, make a point of moving it to a shady place.

When choosing a nice pot, go for one that is short and a bit stable. This is because after the plant grows taller, the wind may make it topple over. They should be wide too to increase the stability. Before planting, fill the container with rocks at the bottom to enhance the stability.
