By Claudine Hodges

There are times when you just cannot get rid of tiny weed plants that grow in a place where they are not supposed to. When it is in your garden it can be easily remedied. All you have to do is get a shovel and simply digging them out. But when they have placed themselves strategically, like say the concrete pathway, you may find that this is not a very easy task to accomplish.

There are several ways on how you can get rid of these sprouts. You can use chemicals that are intended for these purpose. But you have to be careful about the down side of this method. That is why it is recommended that you just burn weeds instead of spraying chemical mixtures. This is the natural alternative.

If you are already set in burning whatever it is that sprouts without permission, the next thing that you must have is the torch. There is a specific torch for getting rid of these stuff. If you make use of a simple lighter or fire, this would also be possible. But when there are areas that are hard to reach, you would require the type of torch that can reach through all the corners.

Other gardeners prefer chemicals before because of the easy application and convenience that it presents. It is also a cheap option. However, you will be facing hazardous risks. These include possible contamination of the water supply. And there is a chance that your other plants would also get affected as well

Dealing with a large scale weed burning, you have to prepare a few things. One would be to have a permit from the fire department. If you do not have this, there is a chance that you might get fined or sued. So if you have to deal with a huge area, you have to guarantee that you possess a permit.

You may find it peculiar but you can also use water in this process. In fact, using it would make the torching more effective. All you have to do is to pour it around the area where there is growth. According to the professionals, it is for better heat induction.

If you are only going to torch a few sprouts, there would be no need for a bigger flame. That is why you have to be careful when you turn on the torching device because it might emit a fire that is bigger than what you have expected.

According to the expert gardeners, the best times to get rid of these things is during the first weeks of spring. This is because the age of the sprouts are bound to be young. This way, there would be no need for you to use too much fuel. It is also a good thing to do this procedure during the morning when the sun is still not so high.

For safety measures, consider if it is the best method that you should use. And when you do this, be certain that your kids and pets are not with you. Explain to them that it would be better to stay inside for the time being. It would not take long to perform this procedure.
