By Wanda Vaughn

While touring the world, all the memorable experiences and collected impressions can be captured best by taking photos. Ever since photography was invented, humanity is capable of immortalizing people, landscapes, events and anything else which a photographer decides is worth taking a picture of. In the course of time, worldwide photography has become more and more popular, gaining so much interest and dedication that it can easily rank among the leading leisure and professional activities.

The first photographs were produced in 1820's in Europe when photography's foundations were laid. These images represented the beginnings of photography, while contemporary photos appeared later when technology began to advance. Nowadays photography incarnates different trends and is widely used in science, business, manufacturing and mass communication. It can be regarded as art, a profession and a hobby.

A photograph represents a unique combination of three qualities, meaning, shape and color. Meaning is the photograph's matchless ability to arouse different feelings, emotions, memories and desires. Shape is about geometry, lines, vantage points, angles and proportions, while color's job is to find the right balance and contrast that corresponds perfectly with the other two ingredients.

Nowadays, travelling photographers use on mass scale two types of devices, camera phones and point-and-shoot cameras. Amateur photographers use these cameras most commonly because they're easily transportable and compact. On the other hand, professional photographers prefer high-quality digital SLR devices which are more sophisticated and insuring top-quality performance.

When arranging a journey at a certain destination, it's recommended to find out if any holidays, carnivals, celebrations or other activities are going to be carried out there. A pretty nice photographic opportunity is offered by such social or cultural activities. Visiting such events can significantly enrich the visitor's impressions, as well as his unique collection of photographs.

Before the travelling arrangements are done and the tourist is ready to start his journey, it's extremely important not to underestimate one's safety. Since the travelling photographer is going to spend some time in unfamiliar surroundings, it's important to take out travel insurance with fair coverage. Investing in solid luggage locks and anti-theft bags is also an advisable precautionary step.

It's good to think in long-term perspective about what else the already taken pictures can be used for. There are a lot of photographic competitions running all the time, being an excellent way to share your perfect work with others. Money can be earned by making a portfolio and applying for a job in various magazines, travel agencies and guides as well as tourism websites. There is nothing stopping you from turning this super hobby into a profit.

Photographers must always keep in mind that taking photographs at some sights is not allowed. It is undeniable that worldwide photography offers people the chance to explore various points of interest to capturing amazing moments, but unfortunately this is not permitted in some places, and lots of trouble can be caused if violating even unconsciously this prohibition. At some places, photographs can be taken for a payment of a fee, which every potential photographer has to check in order to obviate unpleasant misunderstandings.
