Advantages of Wind Energy

By Eldon Parke

Considering wind energy, have you ever wondered what the advantages might be? Anyone who has wondered about alternative energy, has definitely thought about that question.

After researching almost every aspect, advantages and disadvantages of wind energy, I have discovered that wind power technology is a viable option and have since built my own homemade windmill electrical system to generate free power at home. I love using wind power and it is growing tremendously world wide.

A Few Advantages of Wind Turbine

The first advantage is also the reason why it is becoming increasingly necessary that we must find ways to use renewable energy. Harnessing wind power for electricity is not harmful to the environment and, unlike the burning of fossil fuels, does not cause pollution. Wind power is extremely clean and efficient.

Another advantage is that it is very clean. Producing energy via a wind turbine has no affect on the atmosphere as compared to fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are messy from the moment they are taken out of the ground, even until they are burned in your home furnace. The demand on the environment is much less with wind energy.

Disadvantages of Wind Energy

The biggest disadvantage is probably unpredictable wind patterns, which may not be enough in some situations and areas. This is one disadvantage that can be overcome with battery storage systems. Also, there are very few areas that have insufficient wind for such wind powered systems to work properly. It doesn't take a whole lot of wind to operate one of these units, but research your area.

Sometimes the sound of the wind blowing to power a wind turbine can be fairly noisy. For me it has never been a problem, but some designs are better than others for efficiency and noise reduction.
