Save Money and Have Fun With Cheap Scrapbooking

By Janetter Miller

In this article I want to mention a few unlikely locations where you'll be able to find not-only cheap scrapbooking items, but in most cases, free ones!

My Back Yard

While taking a minor break from one of my projects, I went out into the yard to fetch the washing. While I was outside, I wondered whether or not there had been anything from the back-yard that I could use for my album. And what I returned with was some beautiful leaves and some flowers. I dried these out and included them in a nature section of my scrapbook. The effect was quite charming.

Family and Friends

Plenty of my friends and some family members have spare rooms in their homes. In them, they store stationery, old materials, files, old toys and lots of other things no longer used. After seeking permission, I went through these rooms and found a goldmine of materials I could use in my albums.

The upside was that everybody was quite alright with me taking these things as they'd been meaning to chuck them out, so I was in fact doing them a favor.

Hard Rubbish Day

I don't know about you, but in my neighbourhood we have got a thing called 'hard rubbish' day. This is a day when people take the things which they no longer need and put them out on the strip of grass in front of their home where the local council can come and take them away.

This is an absolute goldmine for crafting materials, I have found old linen, ribbons, wrapping paper, colored pencils, paper - just about everything a scrapper could need. I was in heaven.

So you see, if you simply sit down and have a little bit of a think, you will be able to come up with a whole bunch of different loactions to find supplies for your albums.
